Yesterday we celebrated Angel's one month since Gotcha & Adoption Day (March 16th, 2009) and her daddy's birthday. We had over some friends and their kids and cooked out burgers and hot dogs for the first time this year!!! It was yummy.
Hard to belive it's only been a month that she's been with us. She has adapted so well. To see how she has evolved over the past month and to think of all the new things she has been presented with, it's amazing. She is pretty laid back and just goes with the flow. But don't make her made, she makes such a face.
Changes we have seen in the past month:
*** Her walking had become more stable, though she doesn't watch where she is walking and tends to trip over things often
*** She can say mama clearly and has begun to try a few more words such as dada (when pressured), cat, more (ohh is really how it comes out) along with the ASL sign for it and she can ASL for all done/gone
*** We began working on potty training a little over the past few days, not much progress made at this point
*** She can be a social butterfly, when we got her she didn't want to go to much of anyone else
*** Loves to put on peoples shoes and walk around in them
*** Can be a bit bossy, even though she can't talk
*** Goes to bed/nap much easier, we have added 5-10 minutes of snuggle time before laying her down and then she only sometimes cries after being laid down now - she didn't really want to sit and snuggle during the first few weeks - now when you suggest it she will go and pat the couch where we usually sit
(I'm sure there are more milestones, it's getting late and my brain has had it)
We are so very blessed to have her as a part of our family, she "fits" in so well.
We heard from the Chicago Specilist's admin today and have a tentative date in June for Angel's consult and first surgery (implant of balloons) and for her second surgery (first Nevus removal and skin replacement) in September - we should know for sure next week if it's a go. Pray this is how God has planned it.
Have a wonderful weekend - blessings to you all!
