We survived our first LONG day of sightseeing. We saw and learned lots of history about China yesterday, took lots of great pictures to share (check out the above link to view). We visited Tian An Men Square, Forbidden City, The Pearl Factory and Summer Palace. We left at 8:30 am and returned at about 8pm. We were all very exhausted, the jet lag and sleeping at "odd hours" according to what our bodies are used to is catching up to us. We zonked when our heads hit the pillow last night, though I still woke up every few hours and was up for good at 3:30am again this morning. So I've had plenty of time to get our photos uploaded, camera recharged and type an update here!
There are 13 families here, 37 bodies in total. One of those is a 10 year old girl who is from a Beijing Orphanage (the first to be adopted from her orphanage I hear) and has already been received by her family before the rest of us arrived. She is a beautiful girl, you'll see her in the background of a few photos. So they have been lucky to get to do all the touring with her.
Today we will attend the International Church service, visit a Jade Factory and walk the Great Wall. Then tonight we are going to see an acrobatic show, only place here in China you can see it. And a great thing about it is all the proceeds from the tickets go to help those who were affected in the disastrous earthquake last year. We’ll be sure to take lots of pics again, so check back.
We have been able to chat and see our kids via Skype twice now and that has made our day, theirs too I think. They are having a great time with their Papaw and can't wait to hear about their time with my mom.
In 24 hours we will board a plane that will take us to our daughter's city, Jinan. We will then have a few hours to unpack and prepare to meet her. One more day, the day we have been waiting for. Am I ready? More than ready, it just seems so surreal right now. Tomorrow it's reality!!!! Please pray for Angel, she is about to face some BIG changes. Blessing to you all!
